Removing glue from glass bottle

How to remove sticky label/glue from glass bottle?
I tried with a used shaving blade which worked better than if I used my bare hands. What now? I would want this bottle to be sticky-ness free.
Needless to say I want the glass bottle intact as I intend to use it for drinking water

Try putting some olive oil on a paper towel and then use it to rub the glue off

or heat water with kettle, be very careful to not shatter the glass due to temperature difference, do not pour boiling water over the bottle

you can let it soak in a bowl of hot/warm soapy water for a bit, then hold the bottle at the cap and scrape with the other. repeat as necessary

get some duct tape and put it over the adhesive then rip the duct tape off fast, it will take some of the adhesive with it. do that over and over until it's all gone
that's what I do anyways

warmer water dissolves the glue better. just use your judgement so you won't burn your fingers, it doesn't need to be really hot. maybe 104F (40C), warm bath temperature?

Try paint thinner, vodka, vegetable oil, hot water, a metal scouring pad, the hard end of an eraser, cardboard, keep scraping it with a non-serrated knife, or just rub the sticky side on your jeans for a while.

Different glues dissolve in different solvents. Oil type glues are a thing and you probably have vegetable oil on hand? You could use motor oil or WD40 if you like, results will vary depending on the glue

It's a completely different compound, chemically anything organic with an OH group and nothing else is an alcohol, even stupid stuff like cyclohexanol. Drinking alcohol is ethanol (c2h5oh), isopropyl alcohol is isopropanol (c3h8o, with the oxygen on the middle carbon).

Please bear in mind that you're the one that can't manage to get glue off a bottle, so maybe don't act like an arsehole to people who're trying to help you, particularly if it's a subject you know nothing about.

I don't have any lubrication, much less brand name lubrication as I don't depend on a private automotive vehicle for my transportation needs instead I use my legs.

My method is lightly mist the sticky surface with alcohol to soften up the sticky film. Isopropyl 91% alcohol works better than 70% but both are usable. Massage the surface so that the alcohol gets pressed somewhat into the sticky goo.

Then take a physically strong paper towel with such as Costco or Bounty and wipe downwards from the top of the bottle towards the base while pressing firmly. As I wipe downwards with the paper towel, I slightly move my hand so that fresh new paper towel contacts the surface. This pulls off the sticky film into the paper towel. Repeat until all the goo is gone.

The only proper suggestion here was wd-40, literally use it erryday to scrape stickers and remove residue from label printers.
It will easily remove sticker reside from a glass bottle when sprayed on a rag or paper towel.
Any other suggestion is a waste of time.

Im sure you arent aware before you posted this, that product cannot be used on our lable printers because it would harm the sensitive electronics of the printer head and other associated parts.
And, after testing many other sticker and glue residue removal products we chose to use wd-40 because it was the best comprise of performance, compatability with materials without harming the expensive sensitive electronics and price.
Goo gone works as well but not in proximity of the printer head.

OP only needs a bottle cleaned, wd40 will work for that and many other things he may run into, unlike dedicated residue removers.

Nonsense. If you'd known label removers were a thing for removing labels you'd have said something like

Yeah, and adhesive remover will work for *cleaning* many other things he may run into. It's great for that yellow-brown grease you get on pan handles and kitchen surfaces, it dissolves all kinds of semi-polymerised organic compounds.

Anyways, OP has decided that he has a deep personal objection to wd40 ( >>1392549 ), so you'll have to think of something else.
