>>1424788it takes itself seriously, but it's not "dark." berserk is dark, grimgar just recognizes that there's lives on the line. there's hardly any gruesome violence beyond that single scene you mentioned, which isnt graphic at all and only serves to illustrate how both the adventurers and goblins are struggling to survive. most of the show is just people talking and trying to cooperate. all of the wounds are visually toned down. the deaths, even the goblin ones, are done with reverence. yes of course if you compare anything to the generic fantasy kids show "goblin slayer" it will look "dark," but grimgar is not "dark" in the slightest. sick of this mindless slander against one of the animes with the best character writing in the whole medium. all you see is "omg they said goblins also dont like dying" and "omg one of the main characters died" and suddenly it's "dark" and "depressing" despite the overwhelming theme of people working together through tragedy and coming out stronger and more tightly-knit for it. it's such a positive message and happy end and yet you keep spouting this shit. it's like you didnt watch it at all
