- movies about American culture
- movies which are or were popular in American culture
Both types help learn about the culture. As for type one, here's some more:
- Little House on the Prairie books and TV show + Dances with Wolves movie = "early" white culture in America (I will admit that I didn't watch much of that series or read much of those books)
- Outlander = partly about American culture in later seasons, maybe skip this one, anyone else get middle-aged woman vibes from this show?
- Fargo (movie and series) = related to Minnesota
- The Departed = related to Boston or Massachusetts
- Boardwalk Empire = related to Atlantic City and prohibition era USA
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is a US Civil War era cowboy movie, so that's related. The Shining is sorta related to life of that time period, same with some of my other bullet points here
