I have a password-protected PDF that I downloaded from a site which used a PDF viewer to display it.
Is there any way I could infer from the site's PDF viewer what the password for the PDF itself is?

If it's the latter, that's easy to get around. The first one is going to be way more difficult.

That's the issue. The password to open means the file is encrypted. Unless this was encrypted with an ancient version of PDF, it's probably impossible to brute force. I doubt they used a common password phrase.

Most of the people who claim on the Internet that you can remove PDF passwords are talking about the password to remove the flag that prevents editing or printing. That one is easy to get rid of.

Well what I'm thinking is that if the PDF can be viewed on the website, surely looking through the console and javascript code can tell you the password used to unlock the PDF.

That doesn't have any of the newer comics.
Each series on the website costs about $30 to download and the $25 subscription only lets you view them online so I'm trying to figure out if I can somehow unlock the PDFs used on the viewer.

I would think that too, but we can't see the PDF since we don't have a login.

If you run developer mode, you might be able to see the password in a variable.

ok, I've been looking through the inspect on the page if that's what you mean but I'm not sure where I would find the variables specifically.
Should I download the .js files and upload them here so someone more knowledgeable about code can sieve through them?

Something I did notice however is that using SuperDev Pro I was able to download the images resized and displayed by the PDF viewer so if the PDF password thing turns out to be a bust I can at least fiddle around in the display code in order to grab the best quality images I can.

HOLY SHIT I ACTUALLY FIGURED IT OUT.
Took some digging through the devtools but I found the correct value that determines the password used for each PDF.
