It's a pretty old one, and I'm pretty sure it was a motorcycle forum. The OP appears to be a long-standing member who got into an accident that left him paraplegic, so he's sad about no longer being able to ride (or walk, for that matter). He tries to cope with it by sticking around the forum as a mentor figure, even saying that he was thinking of going back to school to finish his law degree, since he has all this free time now.
Some time later, it's revealed that he killed himself. I think another user who knew him in person ended up telling the community.
I think I first saw it on /o/'s DBTs (Daily Bike Thread). Once again, the screenshots were from a different internet forum, not 4chan or any of its variants. I remember the story hitting me right in the feels when I first read it.
