For some reason, the Wannacry ransomware attack of 2017 surfaced on my brainwaves today and it's been driving me crazy that I've heard something similar before. I want to put the finger on Neuromancer, but that's "Operation Screaming Fist", or GitS (the live action came out in 2017), but I can't remember if it's SAC or not. I know the imposter syndrome was called Individual Eleven, but I feel like the hack used to hijack everyone's eyes and make them see Laughing Man everywhere was called wannacry or something similar. Anyone able to help with pinning down what feels like a reference to a show or book, if it even exists? It's been driving me crazy all day.
