How much voltage is too much?

No.1474761 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Ive been using a PC with a power supply unit Chieftac GPM-850C.
It says that the unit has "Over Voltage Protection", and that its supposed to take in up to 240V. But for a long time i exploited the PC with the socket putting out between 235 and 243 V. This SEEMINGLY caused no issues.
But as of recently, surges have began happening that reach 251 volt. I installed a small power relay device configured to sever the connection at the 249 mark as a safeguard.
But is it necessary? How much voltage can my setup take safely? What kind of OVP does the power supply have, is it single-use that i have to replace upon activation? Has it actually been in OVP mode this entire time, protecting the components from ~242 volts?
