I'm having a very hard time fixing a memory leak.
>Windows 11 Pro and Intel Arc A770 GPU (with their i5-13600k CPU)
Regularly the "desktop window manager" process (dwm.exe) starts eating up my GPU until it uses all of its 16go, ultimately causing my screens to go black and Windows to become unresponsive.
Usually happens when I have multiple windows and tabs open and move them around. It seems to be related to dual screening and to the Edge browser.
Looking around online I troubleshooted it for hours but no luck.
It seems the same problem was already happening on W10 as far back as 2020...
Here is what I have tried so far:
>went back to default theme
>updated Windows
>checked for malware
>dusted my hardware
>disabled screen saver
>disabled all visual effects
>clean graphic driver install
>changed dwm.exe's priority to Low/Normal
>'launch folder windows in separate process' setting
>memory diagnostic tool used
>system set to 'best performance'
>disabled windows management service
>disabled fast startup (windows and edge)
>SFC and DISM scans
>built-in device troubleshooting
>power plan set to "balanced"
>disabled hardware acceleration (windows and edge)
>disable background apps
>no HDR, set scale and resolution to 'recommanded'
>random regedit fixes found online
Temporary fix is to restart Edge or restart dwm.exe, but it eventually happens again even in the same session.
I never go crazy with the number of tabs (I have 32go ram too)
It's been going on for months through various updates and I haven't tried a Windows or graphic driver rollback, I read somewhere that Intel drivers have a fix for it on W10 though. I haven't tried switching browser yet. I haven't tried a clean Windows install either.
Starting to think there is no fix.
Thoughts? Prayers?
