This is gonna be very vague, but I'm trying to remember an anime where the Lead Male got confessed to or something and later something happens at the school (demons or whatever, can't recall) and when they're running the (supposed) Lead Female trips or she grabs onto him and he throws her off and runs - or she just trips, he contemplates for a moment about going back for her, but very quickly decides not to (think he says "damnit!"), thus revealing to the audience that he's a glorious scoundral? I think it was all in the first episode, and the anime goes in a different direction.

I think *maybe* he ends up with some group of girls that have special abilities or something? Pretty sure it wasn't Highschool DxD. I know all this shit barely narrows it down, but that one moment stood out to me (and apparently only that one moment).
