Looks like that's wrong, if you go by the orientation of the lettering on the fan. But really doesn't matter. It's just going to be a pain in the ass until you get used to this system. It bugged me after they started ditching screws.

You press the fan against the heatsink and then you have to get you finger muscles activated and pull the fucking extended metal clip ONTO the heatsink and it really should be able to easily snap onto a place on the heatsink.

It will be a tight fit. That's probably not a part of your imagination.

The clips go in the fins of the heatsink.
Corners in the fan holes, handle in the fins.
You just gotta orient/align it right.

Why can't it just fit snug. This shit is flimsy. Why can't it just clip on. This sucks man. I hope I'm doing something wrong

But trying to screw the motherboard onto the case is also a pain in the butt

Take a better picture of the side.
I don't know what heatsink model you have.
All I see is the Cooler Master logo, so maybe a Hyper 212?
You might have to use the top corners of the fan instead.
The clips should not be loose. They should be snug.

Oh also I figured out what screws to use for the motherboard so that part should be easy now

I got so frustrated at that part that I wasn't even exited to build it but now I think things will go fine. That stupid fan is retarded though

The clip tips go in the top holes of the fan, not the bottom.
Then it's the middle handle of the clip that go in the fins, not the entire length.
The fan is sitting a little too low because of the improper installation, so you'll have to scooch it upward.
It may work as it is, but the last thing you want is that loose bottom clip shorting something.

You have hooked the clips into the holes on the fan that are closest to the heatsink. You need to hook them into the holes that are furthest from the heatsink.
