- a CPU that's faster than what you need right now
- a PSU that has more wattage than the current components need
- unused RAM slots (e.g. 4 slots but only 2 ram modules)
But:
- no need for lots of storage as it can be easily added
- not the fastest GPU as it can be easily replaced
That said, upgrading anything is a chore, so you're better off buying what you need now and buying a new one in a few years.
Upgrading compared to buying new saves a couple hundred dollars, which isn't worth your time. Overthinking also takes time, just choose to get mildly ripped off in exchange for time, and spend that time working or enjoying life.
