>>1481136Pragmatically, unless you have the time and motivation to understand every line of source code your CPU, BIOS, OS and applications are made from, and also every line of code in your entire toolchain, and also write your own assembler so you have a root of trust*, you're just going to have to pick a third-party that you can trust to not be evil and not be incompetent and not be subject to being taken over. When I considered those criteria, the answer was "use iOS", but your decision might be different. Certainly Android/Samsungdroid/Chinadroid fails the "evil" test, linux and random-third-party Android fails the "incompetent" and "subvertable" tests, and Windows probably fails all three.
*and RMS has been working his whole life towards doing that and still hasn't really got there
