My recording setup is a Retrotink 5x (for upscaling) + Elgato 4k 60 pro. I purchased both used from Mercari. I think I saved around 200 for buying them used.
Elgato 4k 60 pro are easy to find used for good prices. Not so much for the Retrotink 5x. I think its still made in limited batches or its probably no longer in production since the Retrotink 4k version is out.
I heard something about being able to use a PC GPU to upscale video input coming from a capture card. From what I read there was a lot of input lag so I never really looked into it.
