Google is 100% unusable now that it has become an insufferable marketplace/advertising platform exclusively. Information cannot.be found, only products to buy.

What do you use to find INFORMATION now?

i've been using https://duckduckgo.com/ for 8 years now. it's probably not perfect but a lot better than google.
https://yandex.ru/images/ for reverse image searches. a million times better than google if you're searching for political sources. seems to have gotten a downgrade recently, maybe they had to pay some kind of price to still be accessible in the west after the russia-ukraine war?

i think ai generated web pages is a problem for all search engines, cointoss if the info on them is relevant or even real

I use Brave and LibreWolf. But you can try out all the browsers out there, honestly, I think using an AI can be super helpful for getting clear info fast, even if it’s a bit quirky.
If you’re looking for academic notes, try Sci-Hub.
If you’re looking for books, check out Z-Library.

but still okay to use as an alternative if your main search engine (https://duckduckgo.com/) doesn't deliver

btw for video search i always start on duckduck and select the video section. because sometimes in a blue moon you don't get youtube videos.

for searching on youtube i use https://yewtu.be/ (which is Invidious, instances here https://redirect.invidious.io/)
however youtube is trying to break these sites so maybe you can't watch on them, though you can at least search

I haven't used searx in a while but it was pretty good.
Yandex and brave search are the best non-google engines I've used (in terms of result quality)

it's a million times better than google for any image searching whatsoever. period.
for a brief period the google image search was as good as yandex is now, but they nuked that severely.
yandex image search is crazy good.
