While USB 2 is fast enough for memory sticks, wifi cards and so on, 1 is only really for keyboards, mice, scanners, printers and so on. You would want to use the built-in Airport card, behind some kind of OpenWRT router that provides an 802.11b/WEP network but puts appropriate firewall rules between it and your LAN and it and the internet.
If for some reason it doesn't have the wifi card, they can be got for $20-30 as they were pretty common at the time and could be removed without tools, so a lot of them have survived.
