I'm looking for a title of a western or a (slight) western parody.

The plot is about an aging, big-mouthed gunslinger who's hailed as the best marksman in the West (despite requiring reading glasses) getting hired/tangled in with a black mute shopkeeper assistant, who communicated entirely via scribbles in a notepad. The gunslinger is superstitious, carrying a bunch of (bogus) "Indian" trinkets to help him with various tasks, while the shopkeeper is incredibly bad with firearms - to the point he actually does miss the broadside of the barn.
The movie was generally poking fun out of various western cliches, but without outright falling into a parody or mean-spirited stuff.
It has to be made pre-2004, since I saw before I moved away from my old address (I suspect it was early 90s, but don't quote me on that),
