What are some (plot-heavy/mostly serious) anime with the least predictable, least tropey stories? I don't mean anime that feels like anti-anime or anything like that nor do I mean anime that goes out of its way to be too zany that it comes across as incoherent. After a while you watch so much anime that you can just kind of tell where the story's going to go next or how a specific scene's going to play out.

Note that I'm not asking for good/the best anime stories, I'm asking for stories that will leave me wondering where the hell the plot will go next after every episode because the writer's clever enough not box himself into a corner.

Pic related, Blassreiter's a good example of the kind of storytelling I'm talking about. The plot gets so unpredictable because of how much it cycles between main and major characters because the writer's fucking bloodthirsty.
