I have some Japanese PS games and I want to play them. I am planning on importing a Japanese PlayStation for that. What's good models to get in this day and age? Also I live in Europe and already have a PAL PlayStation; Will I be able to use the cables I have for it on the new one? Do I need to get some adapter for the voltage?

yes japanese ps1 is 100v. my suggestion is for the same price buy a ps3 thats a 2000 series and play ps1 and ps3 games on it

I already have a PS3 but would need to buy a Japanese one to play regionlocked PS1 games, right? I'm also looking at FromJapan and PS3 seems to cost a bit more than PS1. There's a SCPH-7000 on Rakuten for 25€, while for PS3 I'm mostly finding 40€ auctions tagged as "Junk".

I have quite a bit of physical copies so I feel they are wasted on the shelf if I then instead play emulated roms on my pc. Unless you mean I can play those on my pc.

yeah, that's what i meant
use your computer's cd drive
use a third party usb connector for the controller
that's what i did for my ps2 games
