but honesty paired with clear, early, and cordial communication with your professor can work wonders. professors have heard every excuse ever and know 90% are horseshit. most professors do want you to succeed, but they don't want you to have an unfair advantage over other students. 90% of the time, a couple day extension isn't really going to be that unfair. if you show them that you post in /wsr/ with a luckystar OP they'll probably understand there's no advantage that would ever make other students feel disadvantaged against you
