I guess I worded the question poorly. I know honeyview can use all those, I'm just wondering which one do anons think have the best balance between quality and file size for manga pages. Since I'll have to convert a lot of avif images I want to know which are the best option before I ended up wasting time.

Honestly I've never read manga digitally so I wouldn't know for sure, but you can't really go wrong with PNG. It will always provide you with the sharpest image possible which for most people is a more important factor than anything else. Maybe there are some more storage efficient file formats that almost as sharp as PNG, but idrk. I always save all my image files as png, all my audio files as wav and all my video files as mp4. Just get enough disposable income where buying a large harddrive every few years won't be too much of a setback, assuming you'll be saving that much content, which you should be because archiving one of the most based activities imaginable

Anything that serves as a master image for archives should be PNG. Anything that has to actually be loaded in a browser should be JPG. There are very few exceptions to this that only a webmaster would ever need to deal with.

Thanks anons, I'll go with PNG then. I knew PNG is the best format for archiving but I was a bit conflicted because when I converted them I noticed how significantly bigger their file sizes are. But as anon pointed, I suppose I could just get a new hard drive every few years.

personally i would archive the avifs - you can't improve on the original by converting it, pngs will show same pixels but at much bigger size
and for viewing i would use webp (until it supports avif). it has the best quality/size ratio

Once you've pnged the files, mill the file set through Pngcrush. Png supports a bunch of encodings, all of which are lossless, and some of them work a LOT better at random. I've cut file sizes down 50% lots of times
