I am using an android streaming box that isnt connected to the internet with a 4TB harddrive of videos as my personal media center. I want a replacement for ONLY playing videos on my tv, are there any good affordable replacements for it? I just want something that I can attach my harddrive to and it can play any video format without problems

This is the android media center Ive been using for only local video watching on my harddrive for refference

What TV do you have? Check if it plays files good. If it's like my Hisense, it'll play anything you throw at it (for the most part), gives surround sound out properly, has no problem with 4k (although hdr kicks in just fine when needed, the video seems too dark but I think that's by design.

I got a 1tb ssd that I have like 50 of my favorite movies on that I easily keep plugged into anything with a usb connection.

But I actually have a fuckload of movies spread over like six or seven 8TB drives that I reference when I want to watch other shit to put onto the ssd.

Yeah, but I had the impression for a long while that a tv itself wouldn't provide a good enough experience so I ignored it.

Did the secondary display from my PC for a couple years which works the best except it's a nuisance to have to have the PC/TV connected and then have to be configured from the pc.

So, I got a Roku (which I would have gotten anyways because I killed cable) and used that assuming it was better than my tv.

Roku is very convenient except the fact that it shits itself with a lot of media so you really have to download shit that's compatible with it or re-encode it which I don't feel like doing.

My Hisense tv plays almost anything. Vizio is similar to Hisense so they probably can play it if it's a newer model. The current Hisense I have is like two years old so it's pretty modern though.

The only thing that really fucking sucks about the tv is that Roku did right was manage the volume on my bluetooth headset/earbuds. Roku will remember the volume setting for the bluetooth device. My tv will fucking leave that shit on max when I disconnect it and then the tv is blasting until I lower the volume. I have to figure that out still, but for now I'm just listening to my surround sound speakers.
