Is there a word that generally means "Catalyst driving two lovers apart"?
I'm looking for a word that includes objects and events alongside the term "homewrecker".

Close but not quite. I suppose to clarify, I'm looking a more explicit word that could be used the same as "the catalyst of our divorce…". 'Wedge' seems only be used as a metaphor.

I can't think of any words that mean this, but the terms "breaking point," "last straw," or perhaps "straw that broke the camel's back" all seem to fit pretty well.

I think that's it. It doesn't much evoke a romantic tone, however it's exactly the type of word i'm for. Grammatically it works in phrase "the disjunction of our divorce…" without being a metaphor.
