Help (Applied Mechanics Problem)

No.1492256 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I have spent four hours working on this math problem and I still have no clue whether I am doing it right. Are we resolving forces or moments? The other questions in this assignment are looking for moments. Also, how do I actually find d? I tried making a triangle, but I cannot resolve anything, because of a lack of information.

This is a for a class in Uni by the way.

P.S: The text for the problem reads, "Two couples act on the beam. If the resultant couple is to be zero, determine the magnitudes of
P and F, and the distance d between A and B."

The wording is confusing because it does not discern whether they are force or moment couples, which should change the numbers. Also if it is moments, then how do I determine a reference point from the given information?
