>Olev isn't a new meme, it's been around since last year in /a/. It came from the manga "Prunus Girl", which is basically about an ambiguous gender person who claims to be male and dresses as a girl otherwise known as a trap who makes advances on the wary male protagonist. In one panel it shows the trap spelling out "LOVE" in a cheerleader uniform. Because the Japanese read right to left when this was translated someone who's not accustomed to that would think she's saying "OLEV". It was originally somewhat meant to express love towards traps and was said often in the Prunus Girl threads before it devolved to just an /a/ way to say love. The thread where this originated from was made on the 1st of June, 2009.https://desuarchive.org/a/thread/21769541/#21769976>However, I'm not certain that this is where Moot got the idea. It's possible that he encountered the end result of it where in the relation to Prunus Girl and to traps was lost. If I'm not mistaken this page seems to say that some anons were demanding women to write olev on their breasts before this. I have a hunch that this might have been a case of a browser of both /a/ and /b/ spreading it there. Or maybe this is entirely unrelated and someone just thought up olev in /b/ recently with no knowledge towards the small /a/ meme. Whatever the case, olev was certainly an /a/ meme, if only a very small and by this point dead one.As a joke, anons began demanding that femanons verify themselves by writing OLEV on themselves and it caught on but outgrew the original obscure meaning and began asking "who the fuck is olev?" and so moot declared "MOOT IS OLEV"
