Find out the equivalent resistance of the circuit as a whole in terms in R1, R2, R3, R4. Then find out the same in terms of R and R4. Calculate the energy transfer rate as a function of R and R4. Then apply some algebra for question A, some calculus for questions B and C, and algebra for questions D and E again.

i got the first one right but the second one doesn't make sense
the idea is to find the maximum of the equivalent resistance, but when i take the derivative of my resistance equation, r4 cancels out, so i have nothing to solve
