Sit back and think about what you read. Try to somehow discuss or debate it in your head, create two sides then place yourself in both positions whilst using the exercise as a means to both strengthen your argument whilst challenging your view point. If you can, I highly recommend writing down notes and just engage with yourself meaningfully on the topic.
The secret is all about nuance. It's all about presenting an argument or view point that covers as many bases as you can think of. It's articulating beyond a simplistic perspective.
