My video platform / Skinner box

No.1498597 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I'm coding my own video platform, and an imageboard too. But let's focus on the video site for now.
Here's how the design has evolved. People hate my site, but is it at least going in the right direction? I started off by making a colorful border-radius hell but noticed that the more stuff I remove, the better the site starts to look. Huh.

Help me design the user interface or tell me how it should work. Here's how it works right now.
Instead of a random algorithm pushing you content, all videos are organized into user-generated "threads". Related videos line up in a horizontal string so I started calling them "video threads". The person who posts the first video and thus establishes the context is called the Thread Starter (TS).
Does this make any fuckin sense to you? The long lines of thumbnails look dumb, right? But what the hell is the alternative, mate? I'm not going to put just a search box and an algo that tries to guess which individual video you wanted to see. I will not recommend or suggest you anything, ever, because I dont give a fuck if you watch videos on my site or if you find stuff you like. The site has stuff _I_ like. That's what you will see. Partially because there is no point in competing against Youtube/Tiktok in having a massive video gacha. I'd say we keep the video thread concept.
