Is there a such thing as a microSD card enclosure? And I do mean something that ENCLOSES the card. I know there are adapters with, for example, a slot on one end and USB on the other, but that's not really the same

You can buy adapters with caps you can slap over your SD card
What more would you want?

Are you asking for a storage case? Some microsd card brands include a plastic shell for storage. Or just keep the microsd in a SD card adapter that is included with most micro sd cards.

I've never seen an enclosure for a micro sd card that looks like that. Also keep in mind how hot micro SD cards can get when they are docked on a usb adapter. I'm not sure if this might be a reason why you dont see a fully housed microsd card enclosure.

I think it could be an easy DIY project if you have a 3D printer. Gut out a regular micro sd card adapter and then design an enclosure for it.

Why are microSD adapters such dogshit? Doesn't matter if it's a cheap brand or a major reputable brand, they're always a little bit loose. You think your microSD is inserted firmly, only to find that you're off by a thousandth of an inch, and it isn't recognized by your device.

This is why I never use microSD cards unless it's a direct connection. If I need to connect to an adapter, I will use regular SD cards.

you're looking for hinged socket it's very rare but few hours of looking into aliexpress is probably what it takes. otherwise you might find one but it's only sdhc supported.
