Looks like this image emerged from the German-speaking side of the Internet in 2008. No idea who the man in the photograph is.

You're right.

The oldest instance of OP's image that I could find was in a lycos dot de thread from January 2008. The people in that thread are writing in German, and they seemed to have been discussing whether or not 9Live, a German television channel, was a scam.

However, the meme that I shared is written in Dutch and came from a different website.

Double checking the one i have in my stuff and its dated june 2007, so its older than 2008 and its an edit.
Pretty sure ive seen that pic around atleast 2006, maybe.

2008 is just the oldest instance of it being posted that I could find. It's highly likely that it was uploaded to the internet way before '08, and the photograph itself is almost certainly even older.
