I work mostly from home and all my data goes directly to a NAS via a number of Windows mapped folders. Things work fine this way.
However when I work from outside my home, things don't go that smoothly at all. I use an OpenVPN server on the NAS and an OpenVPN client on my PC, but things can get suuuuper slow at times.
Just opening the file explorer can take a couple minutes. Saving a picture to my desktop is the same. Sometimes things are fine but they can degenerate without a pattern I can identify.
I disabled disk hibernation on the NAS but this isn't helping. Both my house and my office have ~500 MBps fiber.
What am I doing wrong? What could I try to prevent all this?
