What's a good TV for >console gaming?
In the UK, looking for a 50 inch screen ideally.

I don't have the slightest clue what I should even begin looking for, I don't care about TV programs or anything just gaming consoles.
Any help please?

Okay after some research I have a primary requirement: Doesn't require an internet connection, doesn't try to connect to the fucking wifi, doesn't have a microphone listening in to me.
If it's not a Smart TV that's good too.

so there's a few different panel types when it comes to tv, theres standard LCD panels which are usually va, there's qled, micro led, etc, but OLED is the best. it provides pure (perfect) blacks and has amazing colours too. the panels are usually 120hz too which for gaming is a plus. once you've used OLED everything else sucks. a popular model is the lg c4 for example. get it on sale though and you can get them really cheap

the voice is in the remote so just don't use it since you're only using it for gaming. All oleds are gonna have wifi capacity but you can just not use it? like if you don't connect it why does it matter?

I'm told by someone I trust completely that some modern TVs force you to be connected to the internet, some record sounds they can hear it their vicinity for "data and research purposes", and some have such intrusive spyware stuffed into them that they will secretly connect to any wi-fi in range that they can do without even telling you. Also "Smart" is just bloat that slows down the TV to make it lag when changing modes.
I just want a TV that acts as a TV, with no Chinese spyware bullshit or other things. Anything beyond that is just nice to have.

yeah, i heard that too
even worse I read that the spying functionality basically subsidizes the TVs making them cheaper and they basically stopped producing TVs without it

LG doesn't force you to connect. I agree though wifi and shit on TVs is getting out of hand. I just have my PC connected up which serves as my media station

Yeah I got one that basically forces to connect to the internet, there was a reminder that popped up every time it was turned on that begged to be connected to the internet and get the latest update.
