Respectfully: READ THE ORIGINAL MANGA RIGHT NOW. I apologize for my passion but the original manga is how I started and though it is far smaller than the anime I humbly believe it is FAR SUPERIOR everyone’s nostalgia for the anime BE DAMNED. Not only is the artwork absolutely beautiful but the story is simple yet beautifully captivating without all the filler nonsense (like of Rei and Usagi being at odds for Mamoru goes against one of the core themes of the manga and just the franchise in general seriously…), like sure don’t get me wrong the anime has its own nice embellishments but the manga is able to capture the story in a far more concentrated and direct way. Anyway I’d say make your way through the original 12 books, then the 2 short stories novels and finally the 2 Sailor V prequels. Then if you’re feeling up to it watch Crystal though it wouldn’t really say it’s necessary (frankly I find the only reason people think it’s ‘slop’ is because the animation is a bit wonky and it actually adheres to the true story verbatim rather than veering off though I understand that might be a bit unnerving for people who’ve only watched the anime..). Then after that if you haven’t watched the anime’s movies (there are 3) then do that and THEN go tackle the video games which can be accessed easily with emulators and such. Again apology for the rant but yeah that’s my 2 cents as a Sailorfag with a capital fucking S (Super S if you will, yes I will be that cheesy when it comes to Sailor Moon).
