I've been using a shity Chinese android (Huawei) phone for about 10 years, (I'm guessing) it's super old but would honestly be happy continuing to use it if i hadn't really started to notice how slow it is and that everyone HAS to use their phones for more and more stuff, so yeah, I actually do NEED something that works better. I travel quite a bit, but nearly always have a small lightweight laptop with me, so, the new phone will still mostly be 'just' a phone, (I'm pretty sure I'm kidding myself thinking like this tho, aren't I?) but that's not really an option anymore, is it.
Pretty much all I use it for other than a PHONE, is:-

Banking/Crypto wallet/exchange aps
Protonmail
Airbnb
Uber
Spotify
WhatsApp/Telegram/Signal/etc
Shazam
Firefox
A couple of very old and non intensive games

I need to start using gps/maps - been using a standalone thing forever.
Not much of a picture taker, don't fb/insta/twitter it'll be nice to have a semi-decent camera, but for me- ALL cameras on 'regular' phones made in the last 5 years are great.

That's about it. Cool story, right?
Was going to get a Pixel 7 a few months back but didn't for some reason, now leaning towards getting a Samsung S21 Ultra, seems pretty sweet... I'm starting to SLIGHTLY give a shit about something I've tried pretty hard to not give a shit about for years.
I'm very open to listening to any of you who can school me or recommend something as I know NOTHING about phones.
Also! This fucking Huawei thing I'm using now has taken a pretty fucking heavy beating and still manages to limp on after 10(?) years!
