1. Get an image editor that can do layers (GIMP, paint.net, etc.)
2. Set the template as the upper layer
3. Set the post image as the lower layer
4. Position it how you like

You're missing the most important steps. Do you think that the template is magical and just lets you see through the white part? Juts because you can understand it's empty space doesn't mean that the image considers it empty space; they're still pixels of a color just like the hand or driver.
