Recommendations on VR Gaming

No.1513440 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Here's the context. I replaced my old HTC Vive with a Meta Quest 3 early last year because it didn't require base stations, was wireless, and was more ergonomic and lightweight than the Vive. That was all great. However, I ran into a couple significant problems with it that I hadn't anticipated. First of all, I discovered after purchase that it is not really designed to be used with your PC, and it's also not designed to use your Steam library. Additionally, while it can be paired to your PC by tinkering with it in the settings, it's pretty much not compatible with linux, which is what I use. I was able to use ALVR to get SteamVR to launch a game, but it only just kinda sorta barely worked a little bit, and was very unstable. For these reasons, the Meta Quest 3 was basically unusable for me and I sold it.

That is the context. So, I am looking for recommendations for a new VR headset that is wireless, designed for PC gaming, and is compatible with Linux (Arch Hyprland, specifically). If it isn't out yet but will be coming sometime this year, I'm willing to wait. I just need recommendations. I think VR is the future of gaming, and I desperately want to play modded Skyrim VR again. It was an amazing experience on my Vive.
