I like collecting it (vinyl, blu-ray, books, etc.) because it helps me to get off my phone/laptop for a while. but it has become a community and a bunch of weirdos have been entering. also I have been selling a lot of my vinyl. sometimes I think why do i even bother when everything is on the web.

I guess when I show people my things I want to show them how obligated I am to a certain thing.

when I was a kid I used to watch videos of people's DS game collections and be mesmerized buy the amount of stuff they have. you could say that it inspired me.

even today youtubers like wyattxhim make me want to build my own collection of things. but even they seem to have grown fatigue of it and I wonder if it will affect me as well.

you use a backup like a sensible person
CDs and storage drives contain the same digital information, computer storage is just cheaper and more convenient

I don't know if I'd call it a meme. I don't have a turntable so vinyl is useless to me. I have ripped all my CDs to flac files onto my NAS with dBpoweramp. I'm in the process of ripping and compressing all my Blu-rays, DVDs and a couple 4Ks onto my NAS as well.

I'm not really a fan of streaming because it's so ridiculous with all the rights/agreements so stuff gets pulled all the time. The quality isn't very good either.

I've have some TV shows digitally in Vudu and typically that is how I'd prefer to watch. You can nearly always get stuff for like $5-8 which isn't so bad. Plus if I travel for work or something then I have my entire collection on my Firestick.

The truth is no one wants physical anymore because the convenience of streaming and digital beats it.

and what happens when all those backups die? i don't trust digital info much at all, reading physical books in particular is way better to me. music probably isn't the best example when vinyl is easy to break but i at least know i can keep cds safer than a hard drive in my laptop
