Recently I got ahold of a rare copy with a local Dub of Akira. I want to make a digital copy. But I have several questions:

Should I invest in a capture card and what type is the best?

Can I just go to a service that makes DVD copies of the VHS and are there any drawbacks?

And yes I do want to archive more into the near future.
