>>1516215Let me tell you a story: I live in Belgium, but I'm not Belgian. Some time ago my parents were visiting me, and my autistic sister requested "original Belgian chocolate". She actually sent me a link to an online shop in my home country that sells same shit, just for a higher price. I said "ok" and before my parents arrived, I went to the supermarket to grab a piece of chocolate from exactly the brand she wanted.
During the actual visit, me and my parents went to some touristic place and entered a chocolate shop for tourists. It was a bit scammy, but not gonna lie, the chocolate to buy there at least pretended to be special: there was one with gingerbread sprinkled all over it, or another one with a small figurine of a little boy taking a piss. Nothing you'd buy on daily basis, but great thing as a small gift. We bought a bunch of chocolate as presents for the relatives.
At the end, all the relatives except the autistic sister got the fancy chocolate from tourist shop, while the autistic sister got supermarket chocolate, exactly the same she could order online.
Moral of the story: tell your parents in general why you like Japan, and let them surprise you. Maybe they'll find something funny and think "oh, anon would love that!". Or maybe not, and you'll get some useless trash.
