Tech Support - Using FFmpeg with HDR video

No.1517256 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hi, everyone. I'm trying to post a clip of me playing Monster Hunter on /vg/. I play on PS5, so my recordings are all in HDR. When I try to change it into a webm for 4chan, the result ends up very washed out and gray. I'm not sure what it is that I'm missing. I even tried changing the pixel format to yuv420p but that doesn't do it either. Is there anything I'm missing here?

Here are the commands I used to produce the webm.

[code:lit]ffmpeg -i "Monster Hunter Wilds Beta test_20250208190226.webm" -an -c:v libvpx-vp9 -b:v 0.07060612643927873126MiB -vf "fps=source_fps/2, scale=-2:540" -pix_fmt yuv420p -pass 1 -f null /dev/null [/code:lit]

[code:lit]ffmpeg -i "Monster Hunter Wilds Beta test_20250208190226.webm" -an -c:v libvpx-vp9 -b:v 0.07060612643927873126MiB -vf "fps=source_fps/2, scale=-2:540" -pix_fmt yuv420p -pass 2 "~/Videos/Monster Hunter Wilds Beta test_20250208190226.webm" [/code:lit]

And here's the file: https://files.catbox.moe/ympbck.webm

I notice that if I play the file in my browser, it looks horrible, but if I play it locally with MPV or FFplay, it looks like it should.
