I vaguely recall a greentext going over the Order of Sword for the military. A ceremony where Commanding Officers are awarded a sword by their troops. However the greentext says the reason why so many of the swords are goofy as shit is because that these particular ceremonies are usually the COs forcing it for their own ego, that originally the ceremony was just something men did for an officer they genuinely respected and some others got butthurt they didn't get the same, but since their men didn't really give a shit they'd go and buy mall swords.
