Games where setbacks are fun

No.1523024 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I've lately become too hooked on savescumming, and it's getting in the way of my enjoyment of vidya. I'd like some games to help wean me off of this and make me enjoy rolling with the punches and not obsess over playing optimally.

I'm not looking for harder games necessarily, just ones where losing even pretty badly doesn't necessarily lead to a death-spiral or feeling like you have to do the same things all over again.

Games I would consider "ideal" for what I'm looking for:
>Kenshi - Quite good for this since it lets you bounce back from defeats pretty easily (and it's fun to lose team members occasionally). Still have to save a lot due to how buggy it is, though.
>CK2 - Difficult to actually have your run end once you get a decent-sized family going, and it's fun to hop around between useless relatives even if things are going to shit.

Games that aren't what I'm looking for:
>nu-XCom on Ironman - While your team members are supposed to be expendable, in practice losing a couple strong soldiers is often a game-ender due to how much emphasis is put on levelling up.
>Roguelikes/Roguelites - While these are designed to be savescum-proof, the unforgiving nature of them often means I'm just re-rolling until I get a good-enough start to actually enjoy a run. It's fun to see how far you can go with a good opening, less so to be dealt a bad hand and feel like you're about to waste a couple of hours just to die halfway. Open to suggestions you feel avoid/are good in spite of this, though.

Not too picky about genre, I'm interested in any sort of game you think is good to beat a savescum habit.
