Probably a long shot, but I am trying to track down an old(ish) anime. I've googled a bunch of stuff and asked AI all to no avail. Unfortunately, I remember only a single scene from it. I don't actually know if this was just a fever dream, or if it actually existed. I'm pretty sure that it did. Here are the details of the scene I remember:
>The episode is set in a large cave system that the main cast enters. I believe it is a man-made cave, and brown in color
>I think the cast gets split-up in groups of 1 to 2.
>The characters become lost in the cave, or for some reason have to spend a great deal of time in it
>This begins to take a mental toll on them
>This culminates in a scene, where a main character undergoes a substantial character development
>He breaks down
>The scene involves flash backs to his time with his mentor or father (not sure which) when he was a child
>Mentor or Father, I believe he trained this character to use his skills or power
>It was a pretty emotional scene, and sort of the climax of the episode
>The character finds renewed strength and resolve after this
>The character may have been a swordsmen of some kind
>He shouts something
>I think he engaged in some kind of risky or self-sacrificing action for the sake of the rest of the cast, but does not die
>I believe the anime had a generally more grounded tone
>The anime may have used a more muted color palette, at least in this episode
>I don't remember the apparel of the character. Perhaps samurai robes, maybe a mask of some kind
>I'm almost certain it released in the 2010s
>I think it was a lesser known anime
>I think at least some of the main cast were adults, not teenagers or kids
Those are the only fuzzy details I can recall after spending the past week thinking about it and digging around for it online. Any ideas?
