Old Children's Musical About Space

No.1525227 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
When I was in Elementary School in the late 2000s, I remember our school putting on a Space-themed musical about astronauts who try to travel to the moon, only to collide with an asteroid and meet strange aliens (or were they robots?) who sing a song about "closing your heart." I don't remember if they ever actually reach the moon, but the "Walking on the Moon" song is near the end of the play. I remember clearly the line "there's an asteroid behind the moon." I remember there was a song early on featuring characters with picture frames for heads, talking about one of their number having a weird face. I remember the musical being called "Walking on the Moon", but having nothing to do with the Police song. The title could be wrong. I think the ending featured a reprise of all the songs, or at least the alien song. I've considered the popular kids play "The First Kids in Space" by Debbie Campbell from what I've heard/seen of it online (picture frame people: robots, weird kid: "I'm Different" song), but I haven't found the smoking gun yet.
