I want to learn to practice buddhism. Can any buddhist anons, or someone in the know provide me with resources to get started?

I like Culadasa's The Mind Illuminated. He was a scientist and meditation teacher, and his book is a meditation guide that is completely free of woo.

If you actually like the supernatural mystical stuff, then my advice probably isn't as good for you.

What kind of information specifically are you looking for?

Some basic texts or "myths" of buddhism that a buddhist would be expected to know and hold a conversation about. That would be a good start.

Yeah, I'm not completely sure. I've tried reading some books about Buddhist history and traditions and stuff but it's just all so dry.

I liked "In the Buddha's Words", which was translations of selections of Buddhist scriptures.

If you find anything good, let me know. Despite being into meditation I pretty much know nothing about Buddhism as practiced by actual Asian people.

checkout the book "The way of the pilgrim" if you are interested in a more buddhist-ish approach to christianity.
