ich & his brother(Frank) opened Wizard's World during his sophomore year of college, on Memorial Day weekend in 1973. It started out as a small pinball arcade next to a Skilo and a Bait Shop, and closed in October 2001, an expanded family fun center. It was enlarged and rebuilt after a fire in 1974, and enlarged again in 1980 to include all the latest pinball machines and video games, and a prize redemption center. Families flocked to Wizard's World to compete against each other at skee ball. Originally, it was opened year- round, seven days a week until the new "Ocean Boulevard" was completed and replaced Ocean Avenue as the main thoroughfare. Due to lack of traffic & exposure,Wizard's World became a seasonal business --- Easter to Labor Day. Wizard's World survived the Pier fire of 1987, was given the Asbury Park Press' Readers Choice awards as "Best Arcade" and "One of the Best Family Entertainment Centers" in Monmouth County in June 2001, and closed four months later through the process of Eminent Domain.
