You want to switch to Linux without deleting your shit.
Option 1: Dual boot, meaning you split your drive into two parts. The windows part becomes smaller but otherwise stays as-is, and linux goes on the other part. When you turn your PC on, you get asked which one you want.
Option 2: Similar to option 1, but buy a second physical drive just for linux. A bit cleaner and obviously gives you more space.
Option 3: Back up all your files, wipe your drive, install Linux, copy your files back.
You should have a backup copy of everything anyway, so if you don't have any backup, make that your priority. After that, if you're comfortable installing an extra drive in your PC then I recommend option 2.
Any of the big distros should be OK. You might consider a gaming focused one like Bazzite, which comes with Nvidia drivers set up and Steam pre-installed.
