I've seen threads on /g/ about a script that allows you to see embedded images, and seen it mentioned off-site that there are jackasses embedding malicious shit into pngs.
Are there any userscripts that wipe embedded images (or any remaining metadata) automatically upon download, and any programs that would wipe anything from all the other images I've saved over the years? Apparently this has been an issue for a while now, though I don't know how big of an issue it's been. From what I read, it was primarily an issue on one of /g/'s generals, but it was quickly shut down and the thread was made an insta-ban when mods caught on what was going on.
I though 4chan wiped all metadata, how are embedded images passing through? Should I really be worried, or is it no big deal? Wouldn't it be something to worry about outside of 4chan too in that case?
On a less serious note, are there any QoL userscripts I should consider for 4chan? I don't know much about userscripts, but I'm pretty sure I need an add-on to manage them, right? Something like violentmonkey or greasemonkey? From the bit of research I did, I saw that using tampermonkey is ill-advised since it's closed source.
