Bare wires and no mention of a power cord says they're passive intended for connection to speaker ports on a stereo system. Active speakers will have their own power supply and inbuilt amp and terminate in connectors, usually RCA or 3.5 mm in home user gear, and can often be connected to aux output safely.
If passive speakers for computer you need to find an amp that will work since computer aux ports aren't intended to driver passive speakers. Connect them and something goes boom.
If the second you better check the impedance of your stereo so that it matches the impedance of your speakers or something goes boom. Aux out ports also aren't intended to driver speakers directly so again you'll need a amplifier or something goes boom.
Aux outputs on computers and home stereos are line level output. Line level is too weak to drive passive speakers and both audio source and speakers can be destroyed by attaching the speakers it sounds like you've got, the type with two wires, different colours or one with a stripe. They're intended only for connecting to properly powered speaker ports. Aux ports are for audio device connected to audio device, like in the old days with VCR or DVD player audio out connected to TV audio in and then the tv itself took the line signal and amplified it for play through the tv's speakers.
