My Asrock PC which worked fine for months now can't get past BIOS and no longer seems to recognize my NVME ssd which was just working fine. Do I just take the SSD out and put it back in again? Why would it suddenly become loose? that's not something that's supposed to be possible right?

And why couldn't you try it before posting this shit? Do you need step-by-step instructions on how to use a screwdriver? It's either that or it's dead. It's rare but nvme can die without a good reason especially if they are on a cheaper side. Also a few months ago there was a w11 update that bricked some ssd/nvme/hdd drives so if you haven't updated in a while that might be the reason.

try inserting SSD into another slot on the same motherboard
try inserting another (working) SSD into the same mobo slot

you probably fucked up the boot priorities or some other setting. some older boards have an option to switch between sata and nvme. some boards need a bios update to work with newer ssds. i would be surprised if some piece of hardware just failed having to do with the nvme controller that seems unlikely as fuck. but then again i remember everyone memeing on asrock for like 10 years straight for their high vrm failure rates so i always prioritized gigabyte or asus boards bcuz of it. been running this aorus z590 elite with a seasonic power supply no hiccups for 4 years now.
