CPU causing shutdown

I have a laptop with a 2080super but I can't play vidya on it because it always shuts down upon heavy load for what appears to be CPU reasons (because the GPU temp stay low), even though I disabled the CPU boost mode in the settings and set the maximum to 99%.
For some reason, it does not happen when on battery, but that means I can only play for 30 minutes before having to wait multiple hours that it charges.
Please help me, I just want to play games on Christmas.

If the battery is removable, try using your laptop plugged with no battery.
Laptops can use the battery to get extra power when needed, but if it's too worn out, it might not be able to deliver the juice, thus shutting down the laptop.
With the battery removed, the laptop isn't able to do that, so it has to content itself with wall power only.
That solved the random shutdowns I had with mine.

Obvious CPU throttling due to heat issue. It could be caked dust inside the fan. The fan itself may be faulty. Your CPU/GPU thermal paste could be dried out and need replacing. When the thermal paste dries out it can't help the heat dissipate properly with the heat sink. If this is the case, you have to open it up and replace the old thermal paste using 70% or above rubbing alcohol. The less water in it the better. Quicker evaporation. You put on a tiny rice sized bit of thermal paste and replace all components just right. Go on youtube to watch videos on how to dissasemble your particular laptop and also on how to replace thermal paste. It's not that difficult but takes a while to accomplish because of the laptop teardown and re-assembly. Or you can take it to a computer shop and pay them to open it up and clean your fan/heatsink and replace the thermal paste.
